Te Kura o Pakotai is a small rural school situated in the beautiful peaceful valley of Mangakahia. We are a full primary school (Year 0 to 8) situated in the Whangarei District Area. We affiliate ourselves with the Ngati Toki and Ngati Horahia hapū of Pakotai. Pakotai School was established in 1905 and has over 100 years of rich history embedded into the fabric of it's walls.
Our school sits comfortably under our maunga, Te Tārai ō Rāhiri and next to the Mangakāhia river that flows gently through to the Wairoa - out to the Kaipara harbour. Our school has abundant bush nearby, with the mountains, and rivers all at our door step.
We are situated alongside Mangakahia Road, State Highway 15, and we are mid-way between Whangārei to the south east, Dargaville to the west and Kaikohe to the north.

A friendly reminder to all schools and caregivers
We have recently received a number of concerns from Drivers regarding younger students being left unattended at bus stops.
For the safety and wellbeing of our passengers, students under 14 years of age must have a caregiver or responsible older sibling present at their bus stop for both pick-up and drop-off where they cannot safely make their own way to or from the stop.
If a Driver arrives to drop off a student under the age of 14 and there is no caregiver or responsible older sibling present, particularly where the student needs to cross a road or walk some distance to their home, the Driver will contact the Depot for further instructions and will not leave the student unattended where it is considered unsafe to do so.
The Depot will then follow the appropriate process to ensure the student is safely handed over to an appropriate person.
We value the safety and wellbeing of all our passengers and appreciate the support of schools and caregivers in working with us to ensure students travel to and from school safely
